MMP Programs Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction About the Course

MBSR is an eight-week course scientifically designed to teach participants how to integrate and apply mindfulness both in their everyday lives and to the range of challenges arising from life stresses.

In this intensive training you will learn to access and cultivate your natural capacity to actively engage in caring for yourself and finding greater balance, ease and peace of mind.

Throughout the program you will be working with your own stress, pain and illness – and the challenges and demands of your everyday life.  Learning will focus on your own experience of how practicing meditation and mindfulness-based self-regulatory skills creates emotional and mental resilience by developing and refining your own internal resources which is the primary aim of the program.

Testimonials

Because of this 8 week course, I have a deeper awareness of my physical self and the possibility of seeing the potential for healing, strength and beauty.  I have a positivity  and openness to myself (including my weakness) and others and a joyfulness and deepening of feeling, beauty and appreciation. Thank you for being my mentor and for the skills you offer to me and all who attend your classes.

As a child psychiatrist, I have read several books about mindfulness meditation , have loaned books to patients, suggested a few breathing exercises, but without this actual experience I would not have started on this journey. This was beyond anything I imaged and has been life changing for me personally and professionally. This course has the potential to influence all medical providers here in our health care system.
Thank you.

Even as a doctor of 45 years, this course taught me how to enhance and respect my physical self. Patsy said, ‘the breath is your constant companion, and as a pulmonologist you’d think I’d have known that all along.  I did not until this 8 week course. And now I do.  Your class kept me from sinking further into depression by helping me to have a clearer perspective on life. Thank you for incredibly valuable course.

MBSR has really been one of the most beneficial things that I have every done in my 50 years of life.  I have been a “poster child,” for therapies, support groups and AA meetings. Patsy really knows how to lead a group. She made everyone feel welcome and safe. This approach has plowed new and fertile ground.  Unlocked some untapped, ignored energies. I found it especially helpful to open to our shortcomings. For decades I stuffed them and tried to will them away. I can say it’s been life-changing in only 8 weeks. Patsy is honest, has a great sense of  humor, has so much knowledge, life experience and expertise and is kind and understanding.

I’ve meditated before, but this has been something that has managed to mold itself into me.  This is a way of tuning my instrument and calming my nervous system allowing more space for joy and gratitude.  This is just the start of being able to bring peace to myself and others around me. I found my big answer that I was looking for.

For years I’ve liked the idea of mindfulness and meditation yet somehow always bumped into resistance.  This course helped me get through that – gently and profoundly.

Bill Starkey

I am better at recognizing stressors and not reacting to them as first instinct, taking the time to pause.

For some time I’ve liked the idea of mindfulness and meditation.  Yet, one self-imposed obstacle or another has gotten in the way. For once, thanks to the gentle, yet powerful nature of this course, I’m no longer stuck, am more self-aware, calm and content.

I highly recommend this MBSR course to anyone who is ready to commit to a daily practice.  I’m glad I waited to take this class when I was ready for it. Not to say that it wasn’t inconvenient and challenging at times, but I was at a point in my life with stress and anxiety that I knew the challenges of this course were well worth the benefits.  I feel more grounded and ready to deal with life’s challenges. With this course I find I’m responding consciously to stresses and difficult communication rather than reacting negatively or shutting down. I look forward to continuing a formal meditation practice and using the tools I learned in this class to better deal with stress!

This group felt so natural and easy. Teema as an instructor had this unflappable calm and kindness that was so comfortable. Margaret had a spark and quirkiness about her which reminded you to take joy in what you were doing – highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed re-taking this course last year In Bozeman, MT with Margaret and Teema (my first time was in 1997 with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli). Margaret and Teema are a fabulous team and are exceptional & seasoned teachers.  They bring great care & deep wisdom to this valuable training.  It increased my delight in life and enhanced my connection to my body.  I gained a longer at home daily practice over the 8 weeks, and loved learning new skills with the support of these inspiring teachers and our group.  Whether you are interested in reducing stress, experiencing more peace or in greater embodiment of spiritual awakening…I highly, highly recommend this course with Margaret and Teema.
